The
research consortium on forest insects results from a concertation between
universities, forest industries and governments. Since its creation in
2008 by Dr. Éric Bauce, professor and executive vice-chancellor at Laval
University, several projects have been initiated. These projects are part
of three different research axes and supervised by 14 researchers coming
from 11 research institutions of eastern Canada (Ontario, Québec, and
Maritimes).
Results
of the research projects realised by the iFor Consortium will allow us to
better answer basic questions on integrated pest management of forest insect in
order to increase wood fibers and to reduce the forest industry’s supply.
